Custer Vacation RentalAbout Grandma's House in the Woods
The Custer Vacation Rental
Just south of Custer, there’s a beautiful home sitting on over five acres. We call it, Grandma’s House in the Woods. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and plenty of space to sleep up to eight people. We are one of the few vacation rentals in the Black Hills that not only allows pets but welcomes them. We are dog-friendly. You can also bring your horses along.
The story of this Custer vacation rental goes back to my parents. My Mother (Grandma Phyllis Grey) and Father (Lyle Grey) purchased a post and beam pole barn to remodel, which is now, Grandma’s House in the Woods. The wooded property backs up to the Rocky Knolls Golf Course. Mom’s folks and younger siblings had moved from Gregory, SD, where grandma was born and raised, to Custer in the 1940s, after my mom had left home. Mom and Dad chose to later retire here in the Black Hills near some of my mom’s large extended family of 12 siblings, 53 nieces and nephews.
