Custer Recipes & Blog Inspiration
Much of the inspiration came from my mom, of course. Growing up on the prairie in South Dakota for mom wasn’t nearly the same as living in a town or city. Life was different. Think Little House on the Prairie, but a half century later. Amenities such as electricity, running water, indoor bathrooms were readily available throughout South Dakota, but not always on the prairie. That’s how my mom grew up.
After living on the prairie for her first 16 years, she learned to adapt in modern life and did it well. Many of the recipes on this blog were ones she made for me and her grandson. Browse through and try one or two. The house mom and dad built in Custer, South Dakota is now the Custer Vacation Rental. Our five beautiful wooded acres is located just outside the beautiful Custer State Park in the Black Hills. We encourage our guests to prepare meals in the kitchen fully stocked with all the cookware and bakeware they would need. Some recipes here are those they have agreed to share.
